RealUptime Status vs UptimeRobot
UptimeRobot's own help center describes its multi-location feature as rotational: each check runs from one selected region at a time, cycling through the regions assigned to a monitor, with no simultaneous multi-region reading for a single check. Region selection itself is gated to paid plans; Free accounts get one auto-assigned default region. RealUptime Status reads every region a monitor is set to SIMULTANEOUSLY on each run and shows all of those readings together on the public page. Region count is tiered here too, honestly: four regions on Free, eight on Growth, all ten on Scale. The difference is that 4 separate readings arrive together on our free plan, where UptimeRobot's free plan gives one auto-assigned region and no choice of it.

Is it open source or self-hosted?
RealUptime's core is a hosted service and its source is not published, so there is no self-hosted edition of the platform itself. The parts that run on your side are open source at github.com/RealUptimeHQ: the CLI and the RealUptime Errors SDKs for JavaScript, Python, Go, PHP and Ruby are MIT-licensed, and the Grafana data source is Apache 2.0.
UptimeRobot: a hosted product that publishes no source and no self-hosted edition.
