Migrate from Checkly

RealUptime's importer connects to Checkly's own API with a key you create, reads the checks in every account the key can see, and shows a preview before anything is created. URL monitors and GET API checks come across in one step; browser, multistep and Playwright checks are listed so you can decide what to rebuild.

Already have a RealUptime account? Open Import from another service and paste a read-only Checkly API key to bring your monitors across.

Rather send us the list? Email it to support@realuptime.io and we will import it within 48 hours.

Create a Checkly user API key

In Checkly, open User Settings, API keys and create a key. It carries your own role, so a viewer role is enough. RealUptime's importer sends it once, as a Bearer token, to Checkly's own GET https://api.checklyhq.com/v1/accounts to find your accounts, then to GET /v1/checks for each one, and reads back each check's name, type, URL and frequency. The key is used for that one read and is not saved anywhere.

Import the checks into RealUptime

On the dashboard's Import page, choose Checkly and paste the key. You get a preview of every check before anything is created. URL monitors and API checks that send a GET import directly, with their frequency, including sub-minute ones. API checks that send a body, and every other check type, stay in the preview, flagged as not imported, so nothing silently disappears.

Rebuild what did not import

A Checkly heartbeat becomes a RealUptime heartbeat: create one with the same schedule and point the job's ping at its address. TCP and DNS monitors map to the same check types here, ICMP to a ping check, and an API check that sends a body to a one-step multistep check. Browser checks are where the products differ most: RealUptime's browser check, on Business, runs a closed set of seven steps, not a Playwright script, so a long scripted flow needs rebuilding or stays where it is. The table below maps every Checkly check type.

Feature mapping

Checkly check types, mapped to RealUptime Monitor

URL monitor

http · Have

Imported directly by the importer.

API check (GET or HEAD)

http · Partial

Imported with its URL and frequency; setup and teardown scripts and Checkly assertions are not carried over.

API check (POST, PUT, other)

multistep · Partial

Not imported; recreate as a one-step multistep check, which sends a method and body.

Multistep check

multistep · Partial

Rebuild as an ordered list of HTTP requests; no scripts.

Heartbeat

heartbeat · Have

Recreate as a heartbeat and repoint the ping.

TCP, DNS monitor

tcp, dns · Have

Recreate by hand with the same target.

SSL monitor

http · Partial

Certificate expiry is tracked on HTTPS checks; create one for the host.

ICMP monitor

ping · Partial

Round-trip time and loss over an echo probe, not raw ICMP.

Browser check

browser (Business) · Partial

Rebuild from seven fixed steps; no scripts.

Playwright check suite

No equivalent · Don’t have

RealUptime does not run your Playwright test code.

Traceroute, gRPC

No equivalent · Don’t have

Not a check type here.

What comes with the account here is all four products, not just the checks you are importing. RealUptime Monitor is the uptime, heartbeat and server side, free for 10 monitors and 5 servers. RealUptime Status is the public page those checks feed. RealUptime Errors catches the application exceptions an uptime check cannot see, free for 10,000 events a month. RealUptime Outages is the free public tracker for the vendors you depend on, which needs no account at all. One signup provisions the free tier of each, with no card.
