All four products are live. They need someone who makes them better every week, from the database migration to the page a customer sees.
What you would do
- Ship features end to end across the dashboard, onboarding, status pages and alerts.
- Make Outages catch real incidents faster, feature by feature, for the services people check most.
- Keep the bar high: every change goes through the same tests and checks before it merges.
- Own incidents and customer support end to end: when something breaks, you fix it and answer the customer without waiting for sign-off.
- Decide what gets built and when it ships, within the product rules.
Requirements
- You live in the United States and are legally authorized to work here.
- Comfortable working on a computer every day: email, documents, chat and video calls.
- Your own computer and a stable internet connection. The work is fully remote.
- You have shipped and run production web software that real users depend on, at a job, in open source or as your own product, and can show it.
- Strong TypeScript, and working SQL on Postgres: schema design, migrations and query performance.
- Hands-on with Linux servers, Docker and deploys, and you have debugged a production incident end to end.
- You have owned a feature from design to release, including its tests and monitoring.
- Clear written English for customers and docs.
- Full-time: this seat is the company's technical lead.
Nice to have
None of this is required beyond the list above.
- Next.js and React, or another server-rendered web framework, in production.
- You have run monitoring, alerting or on-call for a product people depend on.
- You have talked to customers directly about bugs and feature requests.
- Wanting to run engineering, not just close tickets.
- Comfort with AI coding tools.
Pay and equity
- 10-15% of the company. This seat is full-time only; part-time is not an option for this role.
- Granted as non-voting profits interests in RealUptime LLC, vesting over four years with a six-month cliff.
- From $10,000 in monthly recurring revenue, 40% of revenue funds a team salary pool, split by hours, that grows until everyone is at the top of their local market. Until then this is an ownership role, not employment: no wage and no benefits.
What does the salary pool pay?
The pool is 40% of monthly recurring revenue, shared by the whole team by hours, with the CTO paid first. At $10,000 MRR that is $4,000 a month for everyone together, not each. At $25,000 MRR it is $10,000 a month. It rises with revenue until everyone is at the top of their local market, falls if revenue falls, and pauses below $10,000 MRR.
What happens to my equity if I leave?
Units vest monthly after the six-month cliff. If you leave, the units that have vested stay yours and the rest are forfeited. The company may buy vested units back at fair market value within 180 days of your departure. If the company is sold and your role is ended within 12 months after, all your remaining units vest.
